Joviel Buenavente is an emerging multimedia artist based in Regina, Saskatchewan. He works in painting, sculpture, and print-making.
He recently graduated with his Bachelor of Fine Arts degree at the University of Regina. Themes of narrative and storytelling, human emotions and conditions are present in his work. Juxtaposition is also used heavily throughout his practice. Whether it is beauty and gore, a sense of belonging and isolation, these contrasts create tension and blurs the opposing sides.
He has worked as Sean Whalley’s studio assistant for the Nature Pods installation piece temporarily installed in front of the Art Gallery of Regina. He has shown in Regina through the Fifth Parallel Gallery, The Lobby Gallery, The Woods Arts Space, Art Gallery of Regina, and Art Mur in Montreal.
